As the weather gets colder,
Every advertisement playing is 
About families coming together
About seasons of joy and warmth

It is is this uncertainty
This limbo of what is safe and not
That a lot of families are realizing
They will be split apart

But I wonder about those who don’t
Have a family to video call
Those who are permanently keeping
A spot at the table empty

I wonder who is there to help them
Who will bring them comfort 
Or warmth this winter
And I realize that it should be us
